What we did last summer - Ex Yugoslavia states: Bosnia & Herzegovina

One year after I was born, the war began. The war was the result of weakening communist influence leading to the subsequent breakage of Yugoslavia states. The Bosnia War raged on for 3 years with Serbs' constant attacks. It was a genocide. As we strolled along the streets of Sarajevo, we could still see the remnants of war. Bullet holes distinctly entrench in the walls of buildings. But above all, I still see glimmer of hope and faith. The Muslims who knelt before God in their deepest prayers, the locals who were hopelessly friendly towards us.. and that old lady who stood before the cemetery, gently caressing against the white tomb of purity as she closed her eyes and whispered softly to the dead.
